Winter Home Decorating Ideas
Winter around the world can mean cold and gloomy days that make us want to snuggle up by the fire 24/7. It can also mean that our homes look a little dark and cold, with the clouds of winter airily creeping through. This does not always need to be the case – with a few easy to do tips, you can keep your home bright and upbeat all year round.
Keep it Colourful.
If your home leans more to the natural colour palette, you may find that winter time seems darker than usual in your home. Adding a few bright and beautiful cushions and throws will put the life back into your home and prevent it looking stark and cold. It will also mean that your home is set for spring and summer with your decor theme already on point.
Open it Up.
Keep your curtains open during the day so the sun (when it shines) can seep through and warm your home, as well as let in some much-needed light. Switching out your darker curtains for lighter ones during winter is also a good idea. This will allow for any winter light to come through as soon as the sun is up.
Embrace the fluff.
Let’s face it, winter is cold and our toes most often take the brunt of this. Having to walk on icy tiles or wooden floors is no fun at all. Add a fluffy rug to your lounge area to add warmth a bit of winter style. This will ensure that you have something warm to walk on and sink your toes into when you’re settling in for a movie on the couch.
Focus in on the fireplace.
If you are lucky enough to have a fireplace in your home to warm you up in winter, then you need to give it some attention. Pretty it up with a vase or two of delicious monster leaves. Hang a signature round mirror above the mantel to draw attention to your fireplace. Paint a coat of white paint over the fireplace to bring in an element of winter and freshen it up if it’s looking a little drab.
These are all cost-effective and easy ways to winterize your home and bring that cosy factor into play. Winter does not need to be a drab time, it should be a fab time of quality family moments spent in the serenity of your home.
