Multi-Axle was born in 1986 as a general fabrication and custom trailer manufacturing workshop. 18 months later the need arose to update some of the equipment to increase production. Our first Computerised Numerically Controlled (CNC) Turning Centre was purchased to accommodate for the high production machining. Machining of all components was made easy with this high tech machinery, successfully machining stub shafts, hubs, wheel rims, pins and bushes, steel balls and bronze inserts with very fine tolerances.
We gradually replaced machines and today we pride ourselves with our fully computerised Machine Shop, with four CNC turning centres and a CNC machining centre used for intricate milling work and high volume drilling and tapping. 2 automatic self-feeding bandsaws take care of precise cutting of all the raw materials from mild steel, EN8, EN36B, stainless steel, bronze, poly props etc. with diameters up to 400mm and 3 metres long however, any larger items can be accommodated on the 3 conventional lathes that add to our machine shop.
In the Fabrication Department, our codified and certified welders manufacture anything from custom built trailers, 40 ton bogeys and structural engineering to specialized mining equipment including new and re-conditioned monitor guns, water cooled pressure vessels, large flanged piping and pipework with valves for slime and residue dams.
All our trailers are manufactured in-house and we are SABS approved and registered. Our trailer sizes range from small dolly’s and light weight general purpose trailers to larger furniture removal & cattle type trailers to heavy duty hauliers and agricultural type cane & tipper trailers. We do minor and major trailer rebuilds on all trailers, whilst carrying a full range of accessories.
We have a full fleet of general purpose rental trailers, and an eight ton crane truck to transport containers and heavy loads.
We have built our reputation on reliability, quality, service and delivery and we endeavour to keep our clients satisfied with this foundation and look forward to dealing with you into the future.
