A large cold front has graced us with its presence all the way from the Cape this morning, bringing with it gale-force winds and large swells.

The cold-front has been hammering the Western Cape over the last few days and has finally made its way to the North Coast of KZN.  The KZN Weather Service has warned that snow is expected over the Berg dropping our average temperature from the average 30’s to around 18 degrees.

A gale force wind between 35 and 40 knots has been predicted and will be hammering Ballito and surrounds for the most of Saturday.  The good news for residents is the 60% forecast of showers and thundershowers.  With the Hazelmere dam at levels well below 50% any volume of rain is welcome.

The National Sea Rescue Institute has issued a warning of their own encouraging amateur ocean users to steer clear of their beloved sea this weekend as swells of up to five-and-a-half meters can be expected.

The moral of the story, this weekend would be better spent at Ballito Junction or similar.
