Cold front and rain on the way
The South African Weather Service says thunder showers and rain are on the way for drought-stricken KwaZulu-Natal in the next couple of days.
The service predicts a 60 percent chance of rain and storms for Saturday and Sunday.
Rainfall in the North Coast area was reported by Umgeni Water earlier this week to be half of the usual amount received at the time of year. The recent rains are said to not be enough to solve the issue of the nearly empty Hazelmere Dam – the North Coast’s main water source.
The drought conditions that have been prevalent since around 2013 have resulted in strict water restrictions throughout the North Coast.
